Whatever a standard labeling machine can do, a large labeling printer can probably do it better! There are many reasons you should consider purchasing a machine that can output larger labels:

• Larger labels have better visibility and can be read at greater distances. This is ideal for higher areas (barrels stacked in out-of-reach locations or up-high pipes, for instance) or areas that can only be seen from a distance. A larger label might be ideal when you wish to warn someone about potential danger within an area that’s cordoned off or off the main walkway. Being able to read a label from a distance can shave off valuable time in the event of an emergency ... potentially saving lives!
  
• Areas with poor lighting are also an excellent candidate for a larger label. Poor or varying lighting (such as outdoors) means that the eyes have to strain more to read the same sign or label. Larger text will help decrease potential hazard.
• A larger label fits more details. If you find that sometimes several labels are necessary to show all necessary details, this can increase risk to your employees: they need to find all the labels and piece together the information in order to become aware of all relevant data. One larger label will tell them all they need to know at a glance.
• In some instances, y ou may wish to customize your labels with your company name or logo; your large label will provide plenty of space for whichever details you’d like to include.
• A larger machine may comply with future standards. It's better to buy a machine that's a little better, capable of a little more than what you might currently need so that you don't need to buy a new machine in a few years as your needs or industry regulations potentially change.
• Bigger machines generally also equate to more features: they tend to have a bigger display screen, which helps assure that what you're about to print is correct the first time. They also tend to have more memory which means they often include more graphics and can store more files. They may also have a superior print resolution (dpi, or dots per inch) which also helps the visibility of the finished label.
• Some larger label printers also feature the ability to produce signs. Even if you’re not currently creating or ordering signs, you can probably imagine how useful this could be. You can't be everywhere at once but the signs and labels you create can be there for you, delivering the critical message and preventing disaster!

When selecting a label printer and supplies, remember to keep in mind the worst-case scenario: picture the scene you're trying to prevent. What if there was a hazardous spill, an explosion, a collision, or other extreme circumstance?  How big should the label be, how visible, to best ensure the safety of employees?
